Russ Davis - CEO

Russ Davis is the Chief Executive Officer for Arborjet Inc. and Ecologel. Russ and Arborjet have known Ecologel for years, often sharing resources and information at industry tradeshows and events. It was a natural for Rick, Jim and Russ, to make these relationships more formal and allow both companies to prosper by combining technologies and resources. Russ is active in all phases of both companies and is passionate about finding new technologies that have a major impact on our markets and the environment. Prior to Arborjet, Russ was the President of a $200M division of ITT Industries with business operations in 5 countries. He has traveled extensively to over 30 countries to form partnerships and manage offshore operations. While at ITT, Russ was also recognized for his environmental stewardship when he was a recipient of an ITT Presidents Award for environmental sustainability. Russ has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA in International Management and he has studied at the Ashridge Business School in the United Kingdom.

Rick Irwin - President

Rick is the President of Ecologel Solutions, LLC. An entrepreneur and product developer, Rick has over 30 years of experience with water conservation and dust mitigation technologies for the turf, ornamental and agricultural industries. Rick’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to improve the status quo drove him to bring an entirely new class of chemistry to the turf and ornamental industry. With the opportunity to bring Australian born water conservation chemistry to the United States, Rick formed Ecologel with Hydretain as it’s flagship brand. Rick is a visionary who saw the need to reduce water consumption while maintaining healthy landscapes and agriculture long before water conservation had become a major concern.

Jim Spindler - Director of Agronomy

Jim Spindler is a Certified Professional Agronomist, Certified Professional Soil Scientist and Certified Crop Advisor. He has more than 30 years of experience both domestically and internationally. Primarily, he focuses on the marketing, use and science of fertilizers and soil amendments as well as unique water conservation technologies. He has practical experience in turfgrass management, particularly for sod production, golf course, sports turf, and lawn care industries. He spent a number of years working directly with turfgrass producers in the Southeast. In addition, Jim has experience with a comprehensive range of agricultural products. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from Delaware Valley College, as well as a Master of Science degree in Forestry, with a specialization in Soil Science, from Michigan Technological University.

Sarah Spatola - Director of Marketing

As the daughter of company President, Rick Irwin, Sarah has been involved with the Ecologel line of products for most of her life. After graduating with a bachelor’s in Marketing from the University of Central Florida, she officially joined the Ecologel team as territory manager for Florida and the Southeastern United States. She has also served as Marketing Representative and was promoted to Director of Marketing in 2015. In 2018, Sarah graduated from the UF/IFAS Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources, which develops and refines leadership capabilities of Florida agriculture and natural resource professionals. Sarah is an active member of the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA). She has served on several FNGLA committees, Board of Directors and is currently serving as Immediate Past President of the state association.

Nick Irwin - Director of Accounting and Logistics

Son of company President, Rick Irwin, Nick grew up around the Ecologel business. As a teenager, Nick worked in the Ecologel warehouse where he gained experience in manufacturing and fulfillment. After high school, Nick continued to gain business experience in the fields of sales, accounting and inventory management while running the day to day operations of a local bike shop. Nick officially joined the Ecologel team in 2007. Today, he oversees all aspects of raw material procurement, order processing and fulfilment.
